This year we purchased the entire cork harvest from a family farm that is considered to produce the best cork in Portugal. The quality is amazing.

They have never used chemicals and their forest has always been 100% dedicated to cork production so it is natural forest. The youngest member of the family has been running the farm for the past 20 years and, from the start, he implemented new forest practices that used natural symbiotic methods to reduce pests and provide nutrients; he developed water reserves so that dry years would not affect the trees; and, with healthy bark it allows natural aeration during maturation to eliminate moulds and other precursors to sensory problems. 

The results are impressive and I can see why their cork is so highly sought after.

I inspected the bark just last week and the quality we will offer this year will be better than ever. The growth is even and the density perfect through the whole growing cycle. The cleanliness in the field has translated to very good sensory results.
