Bodegas Burgo Viejo from Rioja in Spain have been ProCork customers since 2011.
Gorka Etxebarria Egiguren, who is a qualified oenologue, has been the winemaker at Burgo Viejo since December 2003. and says about ProCork “The most important things for us are the neutral character of the cork, the homogeneity between bottles and a perfect seal.”
Gorka went on to say “Our wines are sold in Europe, the USA, China, Australia and Brazil and we have no incidences or claims due to the cork which is very important for wines that travel all over the world.”
Burgo Viejo Crianza 2014 which is bottled under ProCork T3 has won the following medals and notes: Gold medal - Berliner Wine Trophy 2017; 91 points - Natalie Maclean; 90 points Vinous - Antonio Galloni 2017; Silver medal - Vinalies 2017; Silver medal - Decanter 2017.

ProCork’s Selective Membrane Physically Blocks Bitter Tannin and Glue Extracts from T3 (Micro-Agglomerated) Corks
The improved visual aspect of micro-agglomerated cork over the traditional agglomerated cork has increased the use of micro-agglomerated corks in medium priced wines world-wide.
Despite the wines tending to be for early consumption, the long standing issue of bitter glue and cork extracts from even the cleanest available micro-agglomerated corks is now solved by the ProCork Selective Membrane. The selective nature of the membrane allows the small oxygen molecules to transfer at a controlled rate but acts as a physical barrier to the extracted larger tannin and glue molecules. Thus the ProCork membrane on micro-agglomerated corks delivers a cleaner wine with more pure flavours.
A simple visual test (shown below) confirms the results of GC-MS extraction studies and sensory analysis.
